Light Weight and Highly Efficient Protection against RPG
AMAP-P is an ultralight passive statistical defense system against RPG-threats. It has been developed as a substantial alternative to reactive, explosive containing, protection systems without the disadvantages of this type of armor. Another important feature is the high defeat probability achieved, compared to other statistical solutions.
AMAP-P disables the warhead of a RPG by destroying or short-circuiting the ignition circuit.
The modular design allows easy adaptation to any kind of vehicle. It is characterized by an extremely light areal density of less than 15 kg/m², high area coverage and an effectiveness comparable to Explosive Reactive Armor (ERA).
While conventional slat armor is rigidly mounted and extends far beyond the outer hull of a vehicle, AMAP-P-modules can be designed such that they are retractable and therefore do not need to be dismounted for transport. The individual modules are small and light so that they can be exchanged in the field.
Being part of the AMAP-Family, AMAP-P can be combined with all other products of the family to create a balanced and maximized Survivability. This opens up new tactical and operative opportunities as even light vehicles can now be protected against this kind of threat.
